Please join in the KY Chapter of the AAP’s increased legislative and child advocacy efforts and sign up to be a Chapter Key Contact. As the Chapter takes a more active role in supporting or opposing state legislation and direct advocacy for the benefit of Kentucky’s children, it has become clear that a more efficient and effective way of communicating with pediatricians across the state is needed. Modeled after an AAP initiative, the Chapter has created a network of Key Contacts in all regions of the state pediatricians who are willing to spread the word via phone, email, etc. among colleagues in their region when action is needed. When activated, this network results in a state-wide response, mobilizing hundreds of “local experts” who can help present a unified voice to Frankfort. Key Contacts will:
Participation in the Key Contact network is designed so as not to be a huge burden on one or two individuals, but rather to spread the “phone tree” out among many committed pediatricians. The network and subsequent action is only activated a few times per year with a few additional times during the legislative session.
